My Minnetonka Story: Brandilyn Haynes of Cats & Cardigans
What was your first pair of Minnetonka mocs?
They were a pair of Sheepskin Hardsole Slippers. I wear them all the time!
When did you receive your first pair of Minnetonka slippers?
My mom gave them to me for Christmas in 2009. It was my first Christmas away from home–I was spending it in Georgia with my husband’s family. My parents always wore moccasins around the house, and having my own pair helped ease my homesickness and made me feel closer to them.
What is your favorite memory involving your Minnetonka slippers?
I brought my Minnetonka slippers with me to the hospital when I had my son this last spring. They helped me feel at home and comfortable during a huge transition in my life! I wore them to walk laps around the MotherBaby unit and they made my feet happy even though the rest of me was pretty sore.
How far have you and your Minnetonka mocs traveled?
My Minnetonka mocs haven’t traveled far, but that’s what I love about them–they make me feel at home and comfortable! My feet have stayed warm and cozy through every frigid Idaho winter since I’ve had them.
Describe your Minnetonka style.
I’ve added the pair of Hi Top Back Zipper Boots in this picture to my wardrobe and I love how they take a casual outfit and add a little interest! They’re perfect for every season and make me feel pretty without being over the top. I love how versatile they are–I wear them for errands around town, but also out on dates with my husband. And of course I still wear my Sheepskin Hardsole slippers around my house while I’m rocking my baby to sleep, too!

What’s your Minnetonka story?
Our mom bought us matching Thunderbird mocs when we were little girls. She had a pair and we both had a pair. We still have ours to this day and hope to pass them on to our kids. We often went on family vacations to a resort that had campgrounds, swimming and horseback riding. Our Thunderbird mocs were a part of our summer vacation wardrobes!
Where do you find your style inspiration?
Elsie loves anything classic and feminine, from Marilyn Monroe to Jackie O. She is very inspired by the 1950s and 1960s. She loves clean lines and perfect details. Emma’s style is a little more bohemian. She is inspired by the 1970s and outdoor living. She loves fringe, gold and geometric patterns.
What’s your favorite city and why?
Elsie’s favorite city is Austin, TX. This is where she spent her honeymoon with her husband. She loves the laid back vibe and all the food trucks. She’s a taco enthusiast. Emma’s favorite city is Los Angeles, CA. She lived there for a few years after college and loves the cool and busy vibe the city has, not to mention all the cupcake shops. She is a sweets enthusiast.
