What’s your Minnetonka story?
Kristin, mom to Elizabeth and Madeline, received her first pair of Minnetonka mocs in 1982 at the age of 2 while visiting her grandparents in Arizona. Those pink Thunderbirds were her absolute favorite shoes and were replaced yearly throughout her childhood.  When Kristin brought Elizabeth to visit Arizona for the first time at six months old, Kristin couldn’t resist a pair of size 2 pink fringe Minnetonka booties.  The love affair grew another generation!

Now Kristin’s daughters request Minnetonka boots with fringe every season!

Whose style inspires you? Where do you find your inspiration?
Style inspiration is everywhere.  The girls want to dress fun and playful and that attitude can rub off on us.  Betsy and Kristin are known to wear colored jeans, bold jewelry and try out the latest trends.

What are a few of your family’s favorite winter activities to do together?
In the Midwest, we love dressing the kids up warm to play in the cold.  Ice skating, sledding and just playing in the snow are a few of our favorites followed by warming up by the fire with a cup of hot cocoa.

What’s your Minnetonka story?
I first laid eyes on Minnetonka when I was a young teenager. I was thrift
store shopping with some friends and upon the shelves sat a pair of white
Thunderbirds. I immediately fell in love with the boho-esque features and
knew I needed a pair of my own (in the proper size!). As soon as I got home
I went online and ordered my very own pair.

If you could explain your style in one word or phrase what would it be?
That’s a tough one because I mix and match so many different styles. If I
had to, I’d simply say free-spirited…. and comfortable! Always
comfortable!

Whose style inspires you? Where do you find your inspiration?
I don’t have a particular style muse, but I do love to browse through Free
People catalogues for fresh new styling ideas that are totally
right up my alley.

What’s your favorite trend this season?
Lately I’m obsessed with long knit Nordic sweaters and leggings. When paired
together I just think that they totally encompass what winter life is like
up here in the woods! Very ski lodge inspired I suppose!

What song do you currently have on repeat?
Mumford & Sons – Whispers in the Dark

What’s your favorite city and why?
I’m actually a downright country girl! I am not a huge fan of cities as I
find them a bit too claustrophobic and busy. I love towns like Muskoka here
in Ontario… Anywhere that really showcases nature’s beauty is where you’ll
find me!

My Minnetonka must-have item is __________.
I am in love with the Hi Top Back Zip Boots, but Thunderbirds are a classic
and you can never have too many!
