Minnetonka Store Spotlight: Bucketheads at Mall of Abilene, Abilene, TX

Bucketheads opened their doors in November of 2009, and have been growing ever since.
This country store is family owned and operated by Stace and Nancy Nicholson, along with their daughter Natalie. Daughters Lindsie and Alex are also a huge part of the store.

What is your Minnetonka story?
Our story with Minnetonka started a year ago with our oldest daughter, Lindsie.  Lindsie lives in a big college town that follows the latest trends, she came home one weekend talking about these popular “fringe boots” she insisted we carry at Bucketheads. Once we realized these “fringe boots” were Minnetonka we were on board!

What is your favorite pair of Minnetonka boots?
Wedges!  We love wedges; they go so well with jeans, palazzo pants, basically anything and are super comfortable.  I personally like the ease of throwing them on to dress up an outfit.  Perfect for date night or an easy shoe to wear at work.

What is the most popular Minnetonka style in your store?
We all share a favorite around here at Buckethead’s and that is the 5-Layer Fringe boot in any color.  We all have a unique style but one thing that remains a constant is the 5-Layer Fringe boot. Some of our employees even schedule certain days that they all wear them together!

How do you like to style your Minnetonka mocs or boots?
Around here if the weather gets below a certain temperature, it is almost certain you will see girls wearing tights, with over-sized shirts, and fringe boots. This is by far the most popular way to wear Minnetonka mocs or boots in the fall.  During the warmer days it is almost just as certain you will see girls wearing them with shorts or a cute little sun dress; either way the looks are easy, comfortable, and all over West Texas country.

What are a few must see destinations near your store?
Coined the “great city of West Texas” by railroad official Jay Stoddard Johnston.  We are a rowdy frontier town, established by cattlemen, with lots of fun little quirks and shops. You can see the beautiful flat lands of Abilene, feed the giraffes at our zoo, or you can visit the new and improved Frontier Texas in downtown; a museum that is interactive and fun for all ages.

We are known out here for some tasty grub, such as Perini Ranch Steak House, a home owned restaurant in beautiful Buffalo Gap, TX, Los Farolittos, an authentic Mexican hot spot and the Beehive, home owned with great ribeyes. We would love for you to visit and experience some of our annual entertainment such as, Rattlesnake Round Up, the West Texas fair and rodeo, and tons of boot scooting country concerts at the Lucky Mule.
