Meet Zaiser’s manager Biff Ulm in our Q&A and learn more about Zaiser’s of Nisswa, Minnesota!

What is your Minnetonka story?
Zaiser’s has been in business since 1952, and Minnetonka Moccasin has been part of our store’s history since day one.  While styles and fashions have evolved over the years, our core values remain the same.  We believe in providing the best customer service available while having fun with our job and customers.  A large part of the experience we provide is rooted in tradition.  Families come back year after year, generation after generation.  This is a great honor and something we don’t take for granted.  We find many of the above values working with the wonderful staff at Minnetonka Moccasin.  We couldn’t be more proud to sell the Minnetonka line.

What is the most popular Minnetonka style in your store?
This year we have had a number of standout styles.  The Calf Hi 3 Layer Fringe Boot has been popular in the fall through winter.  As far as our number one style, any of the fashionable Kilty mocs have been amazing.  In 2012, the grey and mustard colors were the most popular.  This year, we are excited to show our customers the colorful selection of Boat Mocs!

What is your favorite pair of Minnetonka mocs?
Personally, it is hard to beat the feel and look of the Camp Moc.  It wears like iron and always looks new.  With a pair of dark jeans and a stylish tee, it makes the perfect “up-north” work uniform.  After work, they are as at home on the the lake as they are in the shop.

What are a few must see destinations when visiting Nisswa?
Nisswa is quite simply the best small town on the Planet.  We are located in the heart of the lake country and the premier location to shop in Minnesota. Over fifty unique shops line our Main Street. Many guests plan their entire stay around shopping.

When not in town, spending the afternoon on one of our hundreds of nearby lakes is a must.  One can fish or simply soak up the sun.  On our bigger lake chains, restaurants and bars are scattered across the shoreline making it a very social scene.

A large part of my free time is spent on the hundreds of miles of Bike Trails.  The Paul Bunyan trail is the king of them all.  Well over a hundred miles long, this multi use trail for walkers, runners, roller blades and cyclists is one of the best ways to tour the Nisswa Area. For more adventurous athletes, spinning along many of the back roads can offer additional sights as well as more challenging terrain.  In the winter, the trails turn into a snowmobile paradise.

No matter what your favorite activity is during the day, everyone can agree ending it with a good meal is a must.  There are tons of quality restaurants in the area.  My personal favorite in downtown Nisswa is Rafferty’s Pizza.  A casual yet upbeat vibe I always go for their Luck Chicken Pizza.  Topped with chicken and lingonberries it is a surprisingly tasty combination. Walk across the street to the Chocolate Ox for an ice cream cone after makes for the perfect end to any day.
