Here at Birkenstock Feet First, our Minnetonka story started about two years ago.  We received our first shipment of Minnetonka Moccasins and were so excited when we first opened the boxes and added them to our family of shoes here at Birkenstock!

Our customers came in and spotted our Minnetonka display immediately and began to reminisce back to their childhood telling us how they, or their family members, used to wear Minnetonka mocs!  They are so happy that we carry the same shoes from their past, that they purchase a pair for themselves and a pair for their children so that the Minnetonka memories may be passed down to the next generation!

What is your Minnetonka story?
The history of Spruce Hurricane and Minnetonka began with my grandparent’s trading post in the small western Maine town of Waterford. They carried the line long before I can remember, and it was always at staple at their store, Kimball’s Trading Post. Years later in June of 1992, my mom and I opened our store Spruce Hurricane. The concept was to combine my grandparents 50+ year history with upscale fashions and accessories, melding the wilderness with sophistication.

What are the most popular Minnetonka styles at Spruce Hurricane?
In our area moose are an icon of sorts, so Minnetonka moosehide moccasins are a top seller for both men and women. Being a fashionable store we love the fringed wedge boots and full leopard moccasins. It’s great to see a company like Minnetonka with long standing tradition being on the cutting edge of fashion. This is exactly our philosophy at Spruce Hurricane, a mix of classic traditions with fashionable flair.

How do you like to style your Minnetonka mocs and boots?
In our store Minnetonka mocs and boots might be paired with a skinny jean or leggings then topped with a blanket print sweater and turquoise jewelry. Fringed boots by Minnetonka look awesome with a tweed coat and fur hat. The mix of textures and styles is what we call mountain chic!

What are a few ‘must see’ destinations when visiting the North Conway area near Spruce Hurricane?
