Capturing the adventurous spirit of the everyday. As simple as a backyard bonfire or as bold as a cross-country road trip our Everyday Adventure series celebrates the big and small adventures of everyday life. Today's post comes from Taylor and Elaine of Local Wanderer.

Coachella kicks off tomorrow and with it each year thousands of people travel to the Coachella Valley and Greater Palm Springs area. Palm Springs is one of our favorite places to visit, we just love the laid-back vibe and lifestyle of this desert town. We are obsessed with the palm trees, bright colors, mid-century mod architecture and desert heat.

It's the perfect place to come for a relaxing vacation, but there's still plenty of good food, cocktails, and pools to visit so you won't get bored. And if you’re heading there soon for Coachella, you’ll want to make sure to stop in and see what the city is all about!

Here are 5 of the best places to visit in Palm Springs, you can view them all in our Palm Springs City Guide here!

1.  Relax at The Junipero

If you’re looking for a relaxing escape, look no further than the Palm Springs oasis, The Junipero. This Airbnb complex is made up of 3 suites and a main house, and situated on gorgeous grounds. It's within walking (and biking) distance of the Uptown Design District, and we loved the peace and quiet that you don't get staying in a larger hotel. And how amazing is this pool!?

2.  Explore Mid-Century Mod Architecture by Bike

Our favorite thing to do in Palm Springs is to check out all the cool houses and mid-century mod architecture. We rented bikes from Bike Palm Springs and biked all around the flat city checking out the historic houses in this self-guided tour. If you are short on time and just need to take a quick Instagram before heading to Coachella, just head to 1100 East Sierra Way in South Palm Springs. A visit to #Thatpinkdoor is a Palm Springs classic - I mean, any house that has it's own Instagram hashtag must be, right?

Vintage shopping is a must in Palm Springs, and The Fine Art of Design in Palm Desert is like vintage mecca. You’ll find everything from outrageous pantsuits to beaded ballgowns, and everything inbetween. Perfect for finding that unique piece for festival season!

5.  Party Poolside at The Ace Hotel

Last but not least, is Palm Springs’ infamous Ace Hotel & Swim Club. Even if you're not staying here, it's worth dropping by to lounge by the pool or eat at King's Highway. Whether at the diner or on the poolside patio, we loved the food (and brunch was amazing). We booked a room here on the weekend so we could enjoy a more lively atmosphere, and springing for a patio room was totally worth it!
