Graceful yet powerful.Expertly crafted with supple leather and delicate hand-beading on the toes, the Ayashe Cally features a vibrant floral design by Lucie Skjefte – a Minneapolis-based designer, mentor, and educator whose work is rooted in activism that challenges the status quo with positivity.
Featuring an Ojibwe woodland floral motif that gracefully encompasses elements of the tulip, leaves and berries, the Ayashe Cally (pronounced: i-yah-she), pays tribute to Lucie’s niece Ayashe – 'Our Little One.’ After becoming discouraged over mispronunciations of her name, Ayashe chose to go by “Aya” at school because it was easier for her classmates to say. By naming this collection after Ayashe and embracing the correct pronunciation, Skjefte hopes to instill a sense of pride in her niece while teaching others the importance of respecting and valuing diverse names and cultures. The colors in this design were chosen by Skjefte not only to reflect the essence of Ayashe's natural beauty and power, yet as a symbol of strength, growth, and connection to our natural world.
For every Ayashe Cally pair purchased, a product lifetime royalty will be paid to Lucie for her original design and a donation will be made to a Native American organization of Lucie’s choice.
